With the development and popularization of Internet, E-mail became widely used. Apart from the convenient it bought to people, a new problem had arisen, that is the emergence of junk mails. Those junk mails not only consume great amount of web resources, but also spread bad information which do a lot of harm to the society. So the study of how to filtrate those junks has great significance. At first, a brief introduction is given to E-mail and its filtration technology, and then the related technology of Linux kernel is analyzed which includes packet capture technology, packet structure and operational functions in Linux operating system, definition of kernel space and user space, and basic method of kernel programming. On these bases, a mail filtration model is proposed with the main functional module running in Linux kernel space to analyze and filtrate E-mails efficiently. The general structure of the E-mail filtration model is described with the introduction of the component modules and functions of submodules. The design of various modules is defined in detail. At last, the test environment and methods of mail filtration system and its conclusion is been referred to with a prospect to the future. The final production of the study is the design and implementation of an E-mail filtration system which based on Linux kernel. With this system the content of E-mail can be analyzed quickly and then those match the rules can be interdicted simultaneously. The system had already been put into use and showed good result.
