The Design And Implementation Of The Hybrid Enhanced Firewall Based On Linux Kernel

This paper has analyzed and discussed the design and implementation of the Hybrid Enhanced Firewall based on Linux 2.4 kernel. The firewall plays the important role in today's network application. The paper has summarized the types of firewall and the key technology in current practical application. The paper has also analyzed the netfilter/iptables firewall framework on the Linux 2.4 kernel. Based on this framework, this paper presented the general design thoughts of the Hybrid Enhanced Firewall, which include: hardware system design, enhanced security performance design, the firewall user management interface design, log and traffic statistic design and the security strategy design. This paper has made detailed explanations to the design and implementation of the URL and keyword filtering module, the web based remote management and configuration module, and the log and traffic statistic module. In the end, the paper has given out some suggestions for the further development in the future.
