There are many new techniques developed in order to improve the capacity inWCDMA systems. The most remarkable one of them is multiple input multiple outputhigh speed downlink packet access (MIMO-HSDPA) which can promote thedownlink capacity greatly. To increase the achievable data rates, in MIMO-HSDPA system, code re-useacross transmit antennas is used. The higher code re-use rate inevitably results in highlevel interference at the mobile receiver, while improving the system capacity.According to this new research direction this thesis studies high speed downlinkpacket access based on multiple antennas structure which can promote the downlinkcapacity greatly. Additionally, we study the layered encoding technique whichreplaces the high order modulation in order to get a lower complexity. The following is the structure of this thesis:In the first chapter, the development of the HSDPA and the chip equalization isanalyzed. Furthermore, the excellence and importance of high speed downlink packetaccess are introduced. At the last part, how to import MIMO into HSDPA isdiscussed.Chapter 2 introduces the MIMO-HSDPA system based on minimummean-squared error (MMSE) equalizer.Firstly the link model, function module andprocess scheme of HSDPA is given. Then we analyze the mathematics model appliedin MIMO systems and the SINR channel metric of. The last part is the integratedproposal of 3 schemes of the adaptive modulation&coding (AMC), hybrid automaticretransmission request (HARQ) and MIMO technique, which are based on MMSEequalizer. In chapter 3, we studied interference cancellation technologies of theMIMO-HSDPA system. Three kinds of interference cancellation detectors are studied:a posteriori probability detector, matched filters serial interference cancellationdetector and multi-stage partial parallel interference cancellation detector. Besides, wecompared their performances through Matlab simulation.Chapter 4 introduced a low complexity MIMO-HSDPA scheme, based on...
