With the universal using of Internet, network has been closely connected withpeople's lives and work. And the more the number of people using Internet is, themore serious the emerging problems are. Except of the lack of IP address, anotherserious problem is the lack of quality of service.The current Internet provides best-effort services. In this service model, all of servicetraffics fairly occupy network resource, and any reliability and delay for IP packetsare not guaranteed. With the rapid development of multimedia services, the currentbest-effort services obviously are insufficient for those applications with some specialdemands such as bandwidth, delay, delay jitter and so on. Since the current Internethasn't the character of the guarantee of QoS, it can't support many new applications,such as remote teaching, remote operation and academic exchange etc. Soguaranteeing network QoS becomes a problem that needs resolved immediately.In this thesis, we deeply researched the architecture of QoS, including IntServ,DiffServ presented by IETF, and IntServ over DiffServ,MPLS network put forwardby other international organization. To guarantee network end-to-end QoS, we mustimplement the management of network resource. The management is finished by theresource manager——the bandwidth broker which is discussed most currently. In thispaper the architecture of BB, the principle of implement and protocol related tobandwidth broker are carefully analyzed. And then we introduced the simulation tool-OPNET Modeler briefly.Based on the deep research of the mechanism related to QoS, we proposed animplementation plan to guarantee the end to end QoS based on BB, and provided theprocess of simulation. We implemented the simulation by using OPNET Modeler. Inthe process of simulation module, we accomplished the basic function of bandwidthbroker, constructed the whole experiment network, and at last made two contrastexperiments ----the network model simulation experiment without BB and the otherone with BB in DiffServ.
