Our country's space exploration is showing great progress, and the satellite communication system brought up a new requirement: both the higher performance and the shorter design time span are needed. In order to solve this problem, it is necessary to employ higher efficient technologies and methods. EDA (Electronics Design Automation) is a kind of advanced, quick, and effective assistant technology emerging as the times require. It is based on computer's hardware and software platform, combining with the latest technologies in different fields, including data-base theory, computer graphics, graph theory, topological logic, computational mathematics, optimum theory, etc. Electronics design automation is a trend of electronic engineering. It can be an undertaker for most part of design work of electronic system, helping engineer to focus more on creation. The purpose of this thesis is to conduct communication link analysis and design components of satellite communication system with the aid of EDA tools, and finally verify the contribution of EDA technology. Based on the S band transmitter aimed for Moon exploration, EDA tools were employed in the design of communication link and key components of the communication system, including link budget design and calculation, design and fabrication of the S band power amplifier, and design and fabrication of the platform of software based QPSK demodulator. At last, detailed information about the test result was given. The result showed that with the aid of EDA tools and related methods, the performances of components in satellite communication system can be clearly increased and the design efficiency can be improved.
