Comparing with development of CAD technology in manufacturing and integration ofCAD/CAE/CAM/CAPP/PDM,the progress of CAD application in architecture industry isvery slow.At present,computer technology has not well traversed the phases of a architectureproject.But these phases are tightly related,so this case is being one of the restrict factors ofcomputer application in architecture industry.One of the primary reasons which make thisstatus is that the architectural CAD only describes the projection messages on some planes ofbuildings.However,the VR(Virtual Reality) technology can make up this insufficiency.This paper introduces a virtual construction management environment which canrecognise CAD data and can be 3D modeling by the data.And it proposes a scheme transitionscheme from CAD data to virtual reality.It can create architecture components which havedifferent geometrical and structural attributes based on different elements and differentrelationships among them in CAD graphics with some manual operations.The componentsare displayed in a three-dimensional way in the environment .Specifying the physical andlogical relationship among structure components and other data, and simulating dynamicconstruction process can optimize construction control and visually manage relevantresources.And it provides a effective measure which can connect the phases of thearchitechtre projects.
