As the combination of MIMO and OFDM, MIMO-OFDM technique gives high speed data transmit in multi-path fading channel. In recent years, MIMO-OFDM has emerged as one of the most significant technical breakthroughs in wireless communications. However, most of the research work still focuses on theories of parts not real whole systems.In this essay, the author constructs a whole MIMO-OFDM receive and transmit simulation platform in order to give performance evaluation for the future hardware platform. Biginning with the signal model of MIMO-OFDM, the author brings forward key techniques in system realization, including frame synchronization, carrier frequency offset estimation, channel estimation, sampling synchronization and space-time/frequency coding/decoding.The author solves every part separately of the whole system, giving an improved method for frame synchronization, channel estimation and sampling synchronization algorithm based on pilots and pilots design rules The author also compares both performance and complexibility of space-time/frequency codes, and then gives detailed results of the performances of space-time coding and space-frequency coding in different channels. Simulation result of every part is given for performance evaluation.At the end of this essay, the author constructs the whole system. Simulation result shows that the system has a good performance in multi-path fading and Doppler shift channel.
