In the present days of computer era, technologies of 3D-suface acquisition are becoming more popular and have been used in many fields, such as model design, automation and manufacturing. New methods are developed to fasten the speed and accuracy of the scanning system. The triangulation method with using a laser is the most widely-used one in this area. Firstly we project a structure-light (scattered laser beam or facula array) on the object' s surface. The position of the light stripe (facula array) on the CCD plane represent the objective coordinates. When the scanning system move alone the z axis, we can acquire a group of stripes by the step of about 1mm. After calibration and inverse projection the objective coordinates of the scanned surface are calculated. The thesis firstly briefs the principles and algorithm of some typical image processes. Then analyze the triangulation methods and presents some new methods for stripe extraction and detection with comparison. We establish a whole system including hardware and software, and also the motor-driver and relative circuit. After that, We analyze the images with MATLAB. Increase the accuracy of stripe extraction and project the stripes into the objective coordinates by a new pattern recognition method. Experiments testify the new algorithm and accuracy of the scanning system. At the end of the paper, I will review what I have done and give new perspectives of this research.
