Wireless Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) is the aggregation of hardware and software that include wireless transmitter-receivers and computers, which is based on the wireless packets network. Without needing a infrastructure a MANET can be configured in a short time and used in many emergent situations such the battle field communication, emergency communication. With the development of the research in Ad hoc, people want to introduce multi-media traffic into it. Thus QoS (Quality of Service) supporting becomes necessary. As one of the major mechanisms to support QoS,packet scheduling has attracted much attention these years. In this thesis, different kinds of packet scheduling algorithms used in wireline and wireless networks are reviewed. And a novel algorithm called CLWFQ, the Cross Layer Weighted Fair Queuing, is presented. This algorithm is designed for Mobile Ad hoc networks. Based on the famous scheuling algorithm WF~2Q+, CLWFQ combines traditational packet scheduling with the Media Access Control mechanism of IEEE 802.11 DCF, to provide a inter-node fair queuing service in Ad hoc networks. Simulation models are designed on OPNET platform to compare the performances of WF~2Q+ and CLWFQ algorithms, in terms of both differentiation service and network throughput. Through the simulation, CLWFQ is proved to perform better than WF2Q+. And the results can be taken as a reference for future research and implementation.
