The climate change in globe and region areas is the major issue which concerns by governments and the scientists. The force of global climate variance mainly comes from greenhouse gases and aerosols in the atmosphere. The former makes the globe warm, while the latter makes the world cold. Although the content of aerosols is very low, it plays an extremely important role.Qingdao is located in south of Shandong Peninsula, three quarters surrounded by the sea, and it has Temperate Zone monsoon climate. At the same time, Qingdao is influenced by southeast monsoon and the ocean current, therefore it also has the remarkable marine climate characteristics. Thus, the aerosol in qingdao area is affected by both land and ocean. So it is very significant to realize the optical characteristics, the typical profiles and distributions of the aerosol. The lidar provides the powerful tool for the aerosol detection, which has many advantages such as long distance, high resolution and long-term operation. Developing process and applications of Ground-based and Spaceborne lidar are summarized in this paper, and the theory of lidar detection is also depicted. The working principle and some related technical parameters of High Spectral Resolution Lidar(HRSL) and CALIPSO lidar are briefly introduced. In this article, the aerosol retrieval algorithm of HRSL and CALIPSO lidar is also systematically clarified, and based on this, the detecting data of both lidar is processed and analyzed. The main results are: a few of typical vertical distributions of aerosol extinction and the backscatting ratio are given by HRSL over Qingdao; as the HRSL can makes THI, PPI and RHI scanning, several two-dimensional distributions of aerosol extinction with time and space are also given; the daily change characteristics of atmospheric boundary layer height are obtained by the first differential of HRSL echoed signals; both HRSL and CALIPSO lidar data are contrasted for the first time, and the results are pretty good.Combined Ground-based and Spaceborne lidar will provide more abundant information of Qingdao aerosols, which is also significant to atmospheric environment monitoring, scientific researches and the weather forecast.
