Hard Disk Encryption Card Fingerprint Image Feature Extraction Technology Research

AFIS(Automated Fingerprint Identification System) , which is based on biometric characteristics and combined with information technology, has a broad prospect and high value both in practice and in theroy. This dissertation is a summary and innovation after doing research of a project "the Design of Hardware Encryption Card Based on Nios". The secret key of the encryption algorithm is the minutiae extracted from fingerprint. This paper is aimed at extracting fingerprint minutiae. The following is what the author has done during the process of the project:First, analysed the theroy of Hardware Encryption Card Based on Nios, software development, as well as system security. And also designed the structure of this system.Second, did a great deal of research of the materials on the technologies of digital image processing and fingerprint recognition. Based on analysing the algorithms of digital image processing proposed by predecessors, according to the requirement of project, selected some algorithms for the fingerprint preprocessing and minitiae extraction to applyand innovate.Third, according to the requirement of this fingerprint recognition system, a kind of process of fingerprint minitiae extraction is proposed.Fourth, analysed and gave a description of the types, characteristics and set distribution rules of noises existed in fingerprint image; a way of eliminate pseudo minitae is brought forward.Fifth, complished all the algorithms involved in fingerprint pre-processing and minitiae extraction; used fingerprint images from open database to validate the algorithms and got the results of experiment.Finally, after analysing and comparing the results of experiment, proposed an effective way used in minitiae extraction from original fingerprint image, which can improve the accuracy and speed of minitiae extraction.
