In Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) systems, the saturation of Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADC) is an important nonlinear noise which will spoil the image and lower calibration precision. Therefore, it is of great significance for the ADC saturation correction. In this paper, the principle of saturation correction is analyzed and the methods of saturation correction for point target and distributed targets are proposed respectively. And some problems about the application of these methods are also discussed and their solution achieved. For distributed targets, a saturation correction is researched based on different clutter models with combination of Rayleigh, Weibull and Lognormal clutter models. The effectiveness of this method is verified using real Radarsat SAR data.- The realization of saturation correction for point target is carried out with compare to that of distributed targets, based on the principle of power compensation for signals with small amplitude. As for the application of saturation correction to image products, the gain variance of image processors resulted from the saturation of ADC is discussed. And modified method is proposed and then verified by using Radarsat image.
