A new method for analyzing the Radar Cross Section (RCS) of a complex scatterer is put forward in the paper , which is a method of frequency characteristic extrapolating . The method can solve not only the extrapolation of the RCS frequency characteristic curve of the complex scatterer , that is said that the RCS of other frequency of the target can be gained and so offsets the limitation of the testing equipment , but also the difficulty which is how to deduct the RCS values of the prototype from the RCS values in the model measurement when the ideal scaling condition can not be satisfied .During the actualizing , a general expression for the RCS of an arbitrarily basic scatterer is synthesized after analyzing scattering characteristics of the basic scatterers , and a expression for the RCS of a complex scatterer can be got via the reciprocity of the basic scatterers . The writer use the program written by Fortran language to approximate the frequency property's figure of RCS of a complex scatterer with the simplex method , then to extrapolate for frequency . From the final result of the approximation and extrapolating , we know that the methods this paper used have finished the design assignment satisfactorily.
