Although a remarkable research activity has been devoted to the application of the industrial process control, the PID control technology is still the most popular and commercially available type used in the industrial process control. This is partially due to its robustness to different industrial environment, simplicity of implementation and familiarity to many engineers. Even if it is the advanced computer distributed Control System which is widely imported and applied in our country ,PID is used as the main control method. But because the fuel oil viscosity control system is rather complex system, which is double closed loop, non-linear, time varying, big hysteretic system, so it is difficult for the traditional PID controller to reach optimum control result.This article researches the fuzzy-PID control algorithms carefully. After a particular introduction of fuzzy controller and it implement traditional PID controller and fuzzy controller by simulation. The result of simulation indicates that the method used in this article take the system better performance.Firstly, the article analyze the model of fuel oil viscosity control system. And the major parts of system have been studied in-depth, including steam heater, executor and measurer. A simulating model has been set up in MATLAB /simlink, which is the base of next studying work. Secondly, we research the PID control method and fuzzy control method for fuel oil viscosity system. A simulator has been developed with MATLAB, in which the comparing within these method has been made in detail. When the fuzzy controller is established, we take the aid of FIS tool box in MATLAB which make application of such controller more simpler. On the base of simulating, we also develop fuzzy controller with ATmega128. The interface circuit, such as A/D,D/Aand FIFO has been discussed and practiced. All of those make up of a fuzzy controller used in fuel oil viscosity controller. Such complex project need a long time work. What we have done to this day has not met the ideal we presume upon as beginning. But this research preliminarily solved the major problem of control method of fuel oil viscosity system.Furthermore, the statue quo and the future of fuel oil viscosity are discussed in this article which indicates the development of simulation, and provide the major work of next step in combination with advanced PID control method.
