The "V-shaped" slots (VSS) have two symmetrical arms, which make it easier to attain in-phase excitation and improve coupling efficiency. Therefore it presents promising foreground for VSS to be applied in some microwave and millimeter-wave systems. Millimeter-wave rectangular waveguide directional coupler and antenna with VSS in the narrow walls are analyzed and designed in this dissertation. Systematical research was carried out in following aspects:(1) Single slot and multi-slot couplers with VSS in the narrow walls were analyzed and designed with FDTD method. Then experimental couplers were manufactured and the measured result was compared with simulated result. This laid a foundation to the research on the application of rectangular waveguide directional coupler with VSS in the narrow walls.(2) To obtain theoretic foundation to the research on millimeter-wave VSS array antennas, characteristic parameters such as input impedance and radiation pattern of VSS antennas (single and multi-slot, linear and planer array) were analyzed using FDTD method and HFSS software.(3) The circular VSS array antennas were simulated with HFSS software and radiation pattern were studied under the condition of uniform and nonuniform intervals. The simulated result was helpful to development of the antenna of an armament system.
