This paper is an important part of the Tenth Five-year national defense preparatory project-research on the 3mm wave band detecting technique. The main task of this paper is the study of the 3mm pulse radar system. In addition, the application of wavelet analysis to the 3mm pulse radar system is also discussed and studied. The major work of this paper can be summarized as follows:(1) The 3mm pulse radar system is designed. System performances such as the detecting range and the range accuracy are analyzed according to the guideline and need of system.(2) The 3mm wave band components such as the antennaN the gunn' s local oscillator and the mixer, have been choosed. They not only meet the near-sensing equipment demands such as low power. low cost. compact and lightweight, but also work well in the 3mm wave band detecting system.(3) According to the need of system, it is stated in this paper that how to design and make a video operation amplifier of 3mm pulse radar. Through the work in this paper, the SNR(Signal-to-Noise) is improved.(4) The selected millimeter wave components are used to the 3mm pulse radar system. The programmable ranging module is introduced to experiment in the target ranging system. The ranging module has reached the desired technical requirement and improved the precision of ranging.(5) Wavelet transform modulus maximum can be used for removing noise in radar signal processing. And a denoising algorithm based on wavelet transform modulus maximum is given in the paper. Moreover, to overcome the difficulty of reconstructing wavelet coefficients in the modulus maximum denoising, a new piecewise cubic spline interpolating(PCSI) algorithm is presented, with which the wavelet coefficients can be reconstructed fast and efficiently. The experimental results show that the method presented in this paper is efficient and feasible.
