Free-space laser communications based on optical fiber communications and wireless communications is not a new technology, but it is developing rapidly. Free-space laser communications technology can be widely used in satellite communication and ground communication that needs quick building. In this paper, the status on the field of free-space laser communications on several main countries are introduced, the structural characteristic of different applied projects are compared, then a scheme with acquisition tracking and pointing (ATP) function for video signal laser communication is designed. We constructed a free-space laser video communication system under the laboratory condition. We designed a servo system for stepping motor, helix scan arithmetic for ATP action, and a solution for automatic tracking aim. In the experiments, the system transmits video signal successfully. Results show that the method is feasible. |
