The dominating scattering of the aircraft is from the engine inlet, so the analysis and reduction of the electromagnetic scattering from the interior of jet engine inlet cavity have been an important research area. A more practical means is the hybrid method, which combines the advantages of low-frequency and high-frequency both and couples them on a proper boundary. In this paper, we use modal method to model forward part of the cavity, Finite Element Method to model the complex terminations. Program is developed for calculating the electromagnetic scattering of a cavity with different kinds of terminations. This program will be a key part in the hybrid method, specially for the rear section of the cavity with complex termination (hub, blades, etc), and the RCS of the cavity with the complex termination is calculated by this hybrid method. Finally we successfully solved the electromagnetic scattering of the cavities with complex termination by the hybrid method. The experience and achievements presented in this paper are valuable for further research on more generalized hybrid method to analyze the electromagnetic scattering of complex target.
