Embedded system has been broadly applied in each field of family and industry. With the more and more perfect technology and service for network, embedded system which well united with the internet will promise to be a main trend of the development of embedded system. This dissertation is to discuss the software design of a network platform which is based on ARM7 embedded CPU.In chapter 1,the author describes the current development status of embedded CPU and embedded OS, and discusses the advantage to combine the embedded system and network technoloty, in order to put forward the design of a embedded network platform.In chapter 2, the hardware design of the network platform is described, including the choose of embedded CPU which based on the support for network function,the selection of memory and peripheral equipment. And bring forward the debug method of the software for the system. Hardware core of the platform is.s3c4510b, product of Samsung.In chapter 3,discussion of the embedded system is based on the code size, memory management,course management, etc.The favorable character to be easy to port,well support of the network and filesystem make uCLinux OS a good choice.In chapter 4,the build of enviroment for development and debugging is introduced, which consists of the build of cross-compile enviroment and the install of correlative libs and tools.In chapter 5, the softward design is discussed in detail. They are the function and design of the boot loader program, the Kernel configuration, translate and edit of uCLinux,and the way to burn the kernel onto flash of the platform. Concept of device drivers and the concrete realization and application of interrelated device drivers in system are also described.In chapter 6, the main research conclusion is given. The prospect of further research work is also discussed.
