Wan Research And Development Of The Database Query System

With the quick development of network technology, Internet has become an important media to get the information that people needed. But how can we get our wanted information as quick as possible has become an important issue when the information in the Internet increasing in such a surprising speed.The information that people wanted may can be found in a web page within a website, or, it may can be found in an open website database. As for web page, there are many search engines for use. But different search engine has different database, different search interface and different rules for searching. In order to get what we want, people always need to use more than one search engine, so they need to know different search rules and be familiar with different search interface. This made us impossible to find information quickly, but the emergency of meta-search engine made it possible. Meta-search engine provide unique search interface, it accept query terms from users, sent it to several search engines for query and then collect the search results of every search engine to users.As for website database, in order to accelerate the speed of query, and enlarge the search result coverage, we have similar strategy like meta-search engine, as a matter of fact, meta-search engine can be recognized as a specialize website database system, the main type of the database is web pages. More generally, in this paper, we provided a global database query system which based on several database query systems and it was called WAN (Wide Area Network) database query system, the databases are no more confined to web pages. It provides users a unique interface, accept the query terms, run and return the results like meta-search engine do.In this paper we have developed a WAN search database query system for practice use, and this project is supported by National funds.
