The algorithm of simplification and exploration for large-scale complex scene is studied in this paper. The viewpoint-dependent LOD algorithm based on block and sparsely resampling is represented. The "block-divided" technique for uniform grids is applied to reduce the large scale. And the sparsely resampling technique is applied to decrease the complexity. To obtain the realistic of the view effect, a viewpoint-dependent factor is adopted as the tolerance criterion of the LOD models.In texture mapping, the levels of texture technology correspond to the LOD model is designed. The final set of images for texture mapping are obtained through joint, divided into block and classified into different levels, in which two kinds of joint algorithm for texture images are presented: one based on planar and another based on cylinder plenoptic.In the scene exploration, two scheme are presented according to different request. One is to control by hand through the input of keyboard, another is to explore automatically along the path designed in advance. Then a whole scheme for 3D scene display and exploration is designed.On the basis of Che theory of1 these algorithms, a system for 3D scene generation is realized through Visual C++6.0 and OpenGL programming. The dynamic, real-time and visual characters of this system are satisfying, which verifies the validity of the algorithms.
