As the important measurement of weapon electronics systems, reentry telemetry system has contributed more to our nation defense. But now, comparing to the advanced foreign telemetry systems, there is a long way for us to keep up with their techniques. PCM transmitter is the key part of reentry telemetry system and its level influences the development of the entire system. Nowadays, the realization of high-code-rate property and miniaturization are the main task of developing PCM transmitter.In this paper, the author comprehensively expatiates the research on microwave phase in-lock frequency modulation. At first, the background of Reentry Telemetry System and the features of PCM telemetry system are presented, and then the author mainly discusses the application of phase in-lock FM techniques in the design of PCM transmitter and the analysis of characteristics of binary PCM reentry telemetry channel. The realization of high code rate property is also mentioned.In the end of this paper, the author lays the emphasis on the circuit realization of high-code-rate PCM transmitter with quasi two-point injection techniques. Through the research on the design of high-code-rate PCM transmitter, the author grasps the fundamental method of studying and designing PCM transmitter, thus obtains the primary skills needed for a PCM transmitter designer.
