Remote Fault Monitoring, Diagnosis and Maintenance System (RFMDMS) is the expansion of traditional fault monitoring, diagnosis and maintenance technology on the Internet. Taking advantages of the Internet, it is able to achieve in monitoring the working equipments and diagnosing faults of them from remote site, sharing the knowledge resource of diagnosis and maintenance. On the other hand, the opening and insecure Internet brings up a new task to the RFMDMS based on the Internet that how to ensure the security of data transporting in many application fields such as the military equipments' maintenance and etc.The security of data transporting on the Internet is mainly made up of three aspects: identity authentication, encrypted data transporting and digital signature. Identity authentication can ensure the exactitude of the communication's source and destination; encrypted data transporting avoids leaking secrets in middle crunodes of the Internet; and digital signature can ensure that the data sender could not deny what he had done. The development of contemporary cryptography provides theories and technologies for the security of data transporting on the Internet.On the base of researching in several application security systems, this paper did much work on researching in symmetrical cryptographic system, public key cryptographic system, digital signature system and the digital certificate application technology in the contemporary cryptography, and issued a suitable security application framework taking account of the characteristics of the RFMDMS, several key technologies in constructing were discussed also. Then, a sharing dynamic link library of security application functions and KNRFMDMS were developed, in KNRFMDMS such functions as users' certificates management, identity authentication, session key negotiation, encrypted data transporting, digital signature and verification were preliminarily succeed, the security of data transporting on the Internet was ensured and the system did work well.
