Video monitoring system has been widely used in the fields of security control, intelligent traffic system, flying target tracking, and so on. Most of video monitoring systems on the market are composed of industrial control computer which work unstably, and the price is too high. In order to get rid of these defects, in this dissertation we design a new system based on digital signal processor.We detailed introduce the general design solution and the specific hardware and software design work of the system.The main problem such as central control mode and video siginal capture mode is discussed. In video monitoring system, the video decoding IC is configured and controlled by I2C Bus. In the dissertation, the general I/O for DSP is constructed due to the communication between the DSP and the video decoding IC. The sampling rate of continuous video data processed by the system is high ,so we use a method by the use of FIFO frame buffer to capture the video. To work intelligently in video monitoring, DSP do motion detection by processing the digital video data stored in frame buffer. If some objects come into or something that is important to the user occurs, the DSP captures the video image, we adjust the algorithm so that it is more adapted to DSP. In the dissertation, we do some experiment in the CCS with the motion detection algorithm.
