Compared with other navigation methods, image registration based navigation has higher precision and reliability, so it is used in navigation, control and guides of certain UAV. The reference image must be stored in the UAV before its flight. This dissertation is dedicated to generating the reference image with an easy way. Military maps and airscapes can be compartmentalized into small blocks, so they can be put into the computer by a common scanner. Military maps and airscapes can be showed again in the computer by merging these image blocks into whole one. According to positions of control points between the map and the image, they can be converted into the same coordinate system.In the beginning, some general ways of digital image processing are introduced, including geometric correction algorithm and bilinear interpolation, etc. Then how to change a military map into a digital map is discussed, and a simple method is used to put the small scanned images together. Finally, every pixel point of an aviation image can get a coordinate through the corresponding pixel point of the digital map.In processing digital image, image compartmentalization is often used as a solution to deal with the huge data volume. On the other hand, to reduce calculation and improve efficiency and precision, choosing the control point manually is necessary.
