The excellent characteristics of Er-doped superfluorescent fiber sources (SFS s), especially intended as candidates for navigation-grade fiber optical gyroscopes(FOGs), makes them attractive for many fiber sensor applications.During the research, Simulation is needed for sources with different configurations to clarify the effects of source configuration, fiber length and pump power to output power, mean wavelength, spectral width and intrinsic temperature coefficient. So, it's necessary to develop the simulation software.I mainly finished the simulation software which could simulate some kinds of representative sources (single-pass backward, single-pass forward, double-pass backward, double-pass forward ) according to the need of Er-doped SFS s research. The software was designed with language C , it using shooting method and the improved shooting method to solve the boundary value problem of a set of ordinary differential equations. It had graphical interfaces for users. They only need to input some parameters such as fiber length and pump power, then it could finished the simulation. The software will provide theoretical support and optimal choice of design parameters.the experiment results and the simulation results were analyzed in the paper, and then some useful conclusions were made, which would offer some theory guidance for Er-doped SFS s design.
