This paper mainly researches the architecture and the top tier protocol of the test network based on the Internet.Firstly, Based on the deeply research and exploration on the characteristic, feasibility and restrictive factor of the test network's building based on the Internet, this paper brings forth an open architecture of the distributed test network based on the Internet which can be flexibly configured by the user. In the test network, the Test-Center Server is the management center, the Test Server is the network test node, the users are the service objects, and furthermore, it can realize the on-line acquiring and share of the test information and data throughout the whole network.Secondly, this paper distinctly defines the conceptions of the Test Server, the Test-Center Server and the Test Client which constitute the test network, and deeply analyses the connotation and extension of these conceptions. It also illuminates and distinguishes each part's function and using.Next, the paper constitutes relevant test network interface protocol standard and points out this protocol belongs to the application layer protocol of the Internet OSI model. It also introduces some basic protocols including the Test Server Logging Protocol, the Test Server Service Protocol, the User Test Protocol and the Time Synchronization Protocol, etc.In addition, as an application example of the test network architecture set forth above, this paper also introduces the Distance Practicality Experiment Platform in detail. In the end, this paper simply discusses and analyses the issues of the standardization in the field of the test network, and also views the development prospect of the future test field.
