Multi-source information fusion is one key part of C4ISR system construction. With the emergence of practical large-scale information fusion systems, the problem of architectural design and the implementation method of information fusion systems together with the engineering of system development process have become important issues in information fusion system research. Within the C4ISR framework, the design of the information acquisition subsystem, the information processing subsystem, information transportation subsystem and command and control subsystem have become a wholly intact process, and this makes it possible to implement the top-down design of some C4ISR distributed large scale information fusion systems.In this dissertation, the architectural design issue and some key technologies with respect to the design and implementation of some C4ISR distributed large-scale information fusion systems are researched. And then, based on the results obtained on the above two aspects of research, I(as the main contributor)implemented a full-scale fleet information fusion prototype system.At the beginning, a comprehensive retrospect and analysis of information and information flow, system architecture, process model, the status quo and the content of the research of information fusion in C4ISR system are presented in detail.Architectural design is the foundation of system implementation. Following along the research path of information fusion process model- system topology-cooperation mechanism among fusion nodes, the architectural design issue of C4ISR information fusion system implementation is researched. Firstly, a thorough analysis of the dynamic property of C4ISR information fusion process is presented, and then a C4ISR dynamic information fusion process model is proposed. Based on the well-known de Bruijn net, a new method to construct the topology of C4ISR information fusion system is given. The Contract net protocol is adopted to settle the problem of cooperation mechanism among nodes. Combining together the above three creative results, a kind of dynamic and self organized information fusion system architectural design method is outlined and analyzed.Time synchronization is crucial to the coherent explanation of the meaning of the data in distributed information fusion nodes. So, the time management problem, especially the clock synchronization problem is investigated. Following a review of the general algorithm and theory of clock synchronization, the measurement of network delay is carried out and a kind of modeling method based on Log-Normal distribution is put forwarded to describe its probabilistic distribution. With this, two clock synchronization methods based on probabilisticsynchronization algorithm and statistical synchronization algorithms are proposed, and a newcomputer simulation method is proposed to test the effectiveness of these two synchronization methods.The JDL model depicts the information fusion process of a single node in C4ISR distributed information fusion system, but it only presents a conceptual framework of the structure of the process node. Based on the blackboard model well known in AI, a kind of information fusion process node implementation method is proposed. The blackboard process model, blackboard framework and blackboard control architecture are presented, and the basic ingredients, the control mechanism and applicable scope of three typical blackboard control architecture are probed in details. And, a reference implementation of the JDL model based on blackboard is also given.As a testimony to the achievements acquired in this dissertation, we developed a general and scalable fleet multi-sensor information fusion prototype system. The research emphasis is laid on the design and implementation of the fusion center software. A kind of multi-layer blackboard fusion center software structure is presented, and we propose a new object-oriented system data structure design method.
