In the paper, the technology of laser broadband communication based on atmosphere channel is presented. With the trends of broadband in telecom operation, the technology will solve the "choke point" problem about the construction of Access Network, which is called "the last mile" in the NII(National Information Infrastructure), and offer a new way to broadband communication.Firstly, the feasibility of applying laser atmospheric communication technology to video signal transmission in short distance, especially to Broadband Access Network is discussed in the paper. Laser atmospheric communication has the characteristics of low investment, large capacity, quick setting, fine electromagnetism compatibility. It will be one of the excellent means in the transition from Copper-line Access Network to Optical Access Network.To ensuring the transmitting quality, the influences of atmospheric attenuation and turbulence to laser transmission is analyzed in the paper. And the technology of video signal compression and coding is discussed.Lastly, the working theory of optical transmitter and receiver about the laser atmospheric communication system is analyzed. And a project of digital image transmission system through laser by atmospheric channel is brought forward. The applied system set is manufactured, and it completes the point to point laser atmospheric transmission of dynamic image. The process of manufacture and debugging and the experimental result are noted detailedly.The technology of laser broadband communication based on atmosphere channel gathers the merits of optical access and wireless access technology. It makes up the shortages of optical fiber, which is high cost, coupling difficultly and laying discommodiously. So it will bean important power in the construction of NIL...
