Recognition Algorithm

This paper discusses a algorithm which can automatically recognize the face. The system combines image processing and pattern recognition techniques. We present a fast and reliable face location algorithm based on template matching. The algorithm distinguishes the face from background through performing smoothing, binary and edge detection on the original images. And then detect the sphere and possible location of face through integration projection, at last realizes the precise location of the face within the sphere.In statistical pattern recognition algorithm, the system makes geometry and grey standardize on the images located, then extracts their features base on three kinds of integration projection curve. At last matches them with the feature samples in sample library and output the most suitable image. The recognition rate is about 75%.
