This project focuses on R&D of home network,especially in communication between the devices in home. After learning the popular home network architecture around,a new solution for communication in home was proposed based on power-line carrier communication technique and digital communication technique. A new home network repeater was also developed under this idea frame.The communicatin signal was put onto the power-line and Ethernet upward layers was migrated to this power-line communication stack. From this way,the new network is compatible with common Ethernet as well. Power-line acting as the carrier media makes the cost of the building home network considerable less. This new solution also can provide 14Mbps wide throughput,which makes the multimedia application in home become available.The main function of the repeater in this design is to connect the power-line together with Ethernet. As all Ethernet function is supported,this repeater was designed under the standard of IEEE802.3. The whole repeater system was working based on a hardware platform. The main block in the system is implemented in FPGA,and soft-core was developed by Verilog HDL. Two ports were set in the system. On each port of the system there's an interface controller. Each of them was connected with FPGA through Mil interface.The following chapters covered every contents of the design including solution carry out and vervification,Repeater soft-core design,system hardware development and debug.
