In recent years, with the rapid development of computer technology and artificial intelligence, the equipment fault diagnostic technique has gradually tended towards intelligent and becomes increasingly more important in fault diagnosis and equipment maintenance. The so-called intelligent diagnostic system is that the system can obtain, transfer, process, regenerate and use diagnostic information effectively, it has the ability of condition recognizing and predicting for the diagnosed object in a given circumstance. Thus non-expert user can gain expert assistance by using intelligent diagnostic system to locate fault and repair equipment quickly. This is of great important in improving the availability and reducing the life cycle cost, especially for those lower level army units who are weak in technique. This paper makes researches on the engineering application of intelligent diagnostic technique as follows:(1) The architecture of intelligent diagnostic system based on Multi-Agent(MAS) is presented. That enables the diagnostic system adjust according to the structure of the equipment. By setting apart the knowledge base and the reasoning machine, creating and managing the diagnostic agent dynamically, this diagnostic system can be generalized to be used for other equipments. This will be helpful in improve the level of equipment maintenances for army units.(2) Based on BDI modal, the main function of diagnostic agent is implemented in three aspects: as CBR(Case Based Reasoning), production diagnostic system and artificial neural network, These three methods mentioned above are processed step by step. The fault will gradually be located at the replaceable component level, hi this procedure, the problem of nondeterministic inference in production system, the collaborative diagnoses between neural network and fuzzy technique and the combination application of rule and neural network are solved.(3) The active knowledge base, the communication and cooperation between agents and the dynamical management of agent are discussed in this paper. And the diagnostic functions based on MAS are partly implemented.The main research results of this paper have been successfully applied in the development of "Radar Intelligent Fault Diagnostic System " for Xichang Satellite Lunch Center.
