The technology of mechanical equipment fault diagnosis is very valuable in production. A lot of scientific researchers devote themselves to this field so as to keep the technology of fault diagnosis on being developed and perfected. The technology of distributed fault diagnosis is part of the new crossed subject.Along with equipment' s towards large scale, automation and complication, the equipment fault diagnosis is getting more and more complicated. The traditional fault diagnosis based on single machine could not finish the diagnostic work any more. To meet the requirements, the equipment' s state inspecting and the fault diagnosis system should be developed towards distribution, network. So the distributed fault diagnosis and predictive maintenance system based on C/S structure is exploited after considering the equipment management of large enterprises. This paper is brought forward from practical application, so it' s research also combines with the old version system and practical application. This paper, mainly contains several following aspects:1 Discuss the theory of distributed fault diagnosis system from two aspects, the theory of distributed system and the theory of fault diagnosis. Explain the distributed fault diagnosis system' s two basic structures: C/S structure and B/S structure. Give the reason of choosing C/S structure and construct the generalized framework of the system.2 Design and exploit a database as background support after considering the traits of the existing system in order to avoid the shortcomings such as maintenance difficulties, lacking of safety and etc.3 Design and exploit a number of modules of the distributed fault diagnosis and predictive maintenance system based on C/S structure. The technology of distributed fault diagnosis will develop quickly with the advancement of the related technologies.
