With the rapid development of the Web and the Internet technology, more and more enterprise applications are now Web-based, including both intranet and extranet applications. The Java 2 platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE1M) provides superior support for Web-based enterprise applications. J2EE is a standard architecture specifically oriented to the development and deployment of enterprise Web-oriented applications using the Java programming language.In this dissertation we first discussed the evolution of enterprise application architectures and the reasons of this evolution. Secondly, we analyzed the basis and architecture and characters of the J2EE platform. Then we introduced the different kinds of components of J2EE applications such as client layer components and Web layer components like JSP/Servlet and business layer components-like EJB and the relationship between these components. After that , we designed an application framework based on J2EE platform. The framework used several design patterns and could release application developers from system architecture design rapidly so that they could devote more time and energy to the analysis and design of commerce and business logic for the user. At last we developed a bill-auto-flow system that could fulfill such functions as flow customization and auto-flow control based on the application framework we designed. The realization of this system provided a solution for the use of OA (Office Automation) technology in enterprise based on J2EE platform.
