The change of some of the variable of weather, such as temprature, ice and wind, will have an influence on ADSS cables and power lines which hang on towers and cause the distance between an ADSS cable and a power line to vary. Especially when the lines are moved by the wind, the shortest distance between them varies fast, as is the so-called swing problem of ADSS cable.This article firstly analyzes some fundamental factors of the problem, such as the weather factors, the material and mechanical characters of the lines and the load of lines.Base on catenary equation, this article discusses the change caused by a single factor of weather and with some practical algorithms analyses the conditions that cause the greatest change of lines.Then it analyzes the swing problem with two models, which are variable pendulum model and ballistic pendulum model that is based on the conversation law of momentum. As well it provides some numerical algorithms, with which it also discusses some more complex cases of swing in consideration of gush wind, pulse wind or other factors of weather.Designed a programm called 3D Emulator of ADSS Cable Swing to illustrate the swing of lines. Also provides the numerial arithmetics to calculate the shortest distance between two swinging lines.
