The SSL protocol developed by Netscape Communications is intended to provide Indentification in internet and data security communication between web server and User Explorer. It is widely used in Electronic Commerce. This paper introduced the network security architecture and security standard at first, then introduced the working principle and security mechanism of SSL protocol, analysed the security mechanism of sub-protocol of SSL, discussed the possible security threaten and attack, as well as the correspondence measure.According to the regulation of the government of the USA, the incrypt technology is restricted by the National Defense Trade Controlling office. The incry algorithm more than 40 bits can't be exported. Because of this the IE and Netscape which in our daily life will only support the SLL which using the secret key of 40 bits to incrypt, but for most net bank, the browser with SSL of 128 bits is required for their customer. With the improvement of the speed of modern computers, the incrypt algorithm with less than 64 bits can be decrypted by force. Actually the 128 bits SSL engine is used in the IE and NETSCAPE, but this must be approved to start by the Version which is an American company . if this method is adopted, the incrypt technology for the net of our country will be controlled by the foreign companies which is not suitable for the long term development of our information technology.The theoretical contribution of this paper is that, on the base of full research foreign advanced technology, the author developed SSL security agent program of ourselves . Given our security agent program, user's 40-bits explorer can achieve 128-bits or 168-bits SSL security data communication . The paper also write out the testing requirement and outline of SSL products, and proposed the sysmatic testing method and the model of functional testing, performance testing, security testing and protocol consistency of SSL protocol, which may be useful for testing such products.The practical contribution of this paper is that, the product well used in rubber exchange center of hainan. With the improve of the product , the future of our product will be more and more broader.
