The research work in my thesis comes from the project of ATM/IPswitch. The research work is the QoS part of the project. With the improving of networks and the developping of multimedia applications, networks have seen one of their main goals梔istributed multimedia network, which can transfer real-time especially, multimedia data. In achieving it, introducing quality of service (QoS) into current Internet architecture, has been an important research topic. In this thesis, we introduce the techniques and methodologies that we used to design and implement Integrated Services+Differentiated Services modal by using OPNET.In Chapter l,we descript the definiton and the basic framework of QoS. In chapter 2, we analyzed and compared the Integrated Services and Differentiated Services which presented by IETF workgroup. As the result,we get advantages and disadvantages of these two modal. In chapter 3, we innovated a new modol----Integrated Services +Differentiated Services modal, we discussed the mechanism and the way of thinking of this modal. At the end of this chapter, we studied current congestion algorithms such as RED, FRED, FQ and CSFQ by using simulation. In chapter 4, we studied the self-adapt mechanism implemented in this new modal. In chapter 5, We have implemented the Token Bucket and Leaky Bucket algorithms in this modol and studied their effects by using OPNet. In chapter 6, we studied the one machine multi-service platform technology, in chapter 7, we summarized the characteristics of QoS switching router, in chapter 8.we drawn a conclusion of all the research work we had done in this thesis.
