The assignment of this subject is using the RSVP protocol to improve the Quality of Service of the internet, with the purpose of providing the whole project of RSVP system: from the data providers and receivers to the routers. The RSVP system consists of two parts: the user hosts and the routers. Data senders and receivers provide interfaces to users, through which the users can ask for different kinds of service according to different kinds of needs. RSVP control message is arose from the handled parameters from users and then sent to the next hop. Routers receives the RSVP control message and offer various level of service to the data transmitting. The RSVP system implements the resource reservation of the real network environment for the particular data stream. We've made two sets of experiments with the testbed and from which we can draw some conclusions: both TCP or UDP applications benefit from the RSVP's resource reservation and their QoS parameters; throughput, jitter, delay and loss, have a great deal of improvement. The creativity of this subject is that on the router we use RSVP traffic control module to connect RSVP daemon and traffic control part of the operating system. We use the OS's traffic control part to schedule network resources and improve quality of service.
