The Internet is increasingly changing from the network that provides single simple service to a sophisticated infrastructure that delivers multi-services. According to the requirement and characteristic of applications,dynamic adaptation to applications and network environment through programmability is the trend of routers or switches.IP networks are widely used today. Traditional IP switches can only provide BE service,and their services and functions are fixed,so we can not adjust and upgrade or extend the functions of switches through programmability. This paper introduces a new IP Virtual Switches architecture providing multiple service:IPVSW. Based on the virtual forwarding architecture by resource partition,the IPVSW can provide flexible packet processing and forwarding control that adapt to applications. According to the idea of IPVSW,we present a classify method of resources,then abstract the IP Switch hardware Resources,describe the IP Virtual Switches resource interfaces. We use the interface to form the DiffServ SSWs,which prove the validity and feasibility of our work. The resource interfaces include the basic resources or functions and algorithms to expand new functions. IP virtual switches can use in many ways:the upper level can divide and bind the hardware resource through these interfaces to form different virtual switchlets.
