In the course of design the press machine tool fitting the valve guide tube onto the vehicle engine, it found necessary to design a special-purpose electric resistance strain gauge, which, considering the structure of the machine tool, is expected to send pressure numerical data to the control system of the machine tool. The design of the elastic component is the pivot of the gauge design. In this magisterial thesis, the author selects the elastic component shape and designs the elastic component. After selecting the elastic component shape suitable for the structure of the machine tool, elementary design is implemented for two kinds of component material: 40CrNiMn & LY12. Then the analyse of the elastic component stress and strain is completed, and the check of the component age limit and strength follows. At last, a comparison is performed between two kinds of elastic components made of different material. The above results establish the basis for the producer to develop and manufacture the product.In the analyse course, two elasticity theory methods, the Finite Element Method and the Variation Method are employed. And the Variation Method solution is a continuous function describing the distribution of the stress and strain as a whole, which can be helpful to the design of similar gauge.
