With the development of information technology and computer network technology, essential change has taken place in the design and manufacturing environment of product. In order to provide an effective tool of process planning for manufacturing engineers, shorten the cycle of process planning, improve the efficiency of design and reduce the cost of production, it is necessary to deeply study web-based process planning.The key technologies relate to web-based process planning are discussed in detail in the thesis:The feature technology and parametric technology in the computer integrated manufacturing are discussed. An approach to process planning based on parameterized feature is proposed.The thesis introduces three tier of Browse/Server and points out that the web-based Browse/Server computing model will be the trend of applied software. Development technologies of web-based applied software are also introduced.Data and knowledge which is most important in process planning is introduced in detail. The process planning database applied to manufacturing and analysis system of shaft model is also established on the ground of discussion of integration of web and database.According to the key technologies above, process planning system of shaft is designed and developed. The application of the system can effectively shorten the cycle of process planning.
