With the rapid development of internet, network and software technique, all kinds of computing environments nowadays are becoming characterized distinctly by distribution, cooperation, and heterogeneity. The world is changing so quickly that legacy systems, which was constructed in different time, by different languages and with different architectures or frameworks, are getting important in application development. By expanding on existing framework, a new application can serve the organization as quickly as possible and then greatly upgrade its business in tough competition. A variety of information technology disciplines are studying problems and solutions for SI on different respects, but they all focuses on three issues: autonomy, heterogeneity and distribution. Then obviously SI is highly interdisplinary.Studied pros and cons of several popular integration techniques, this thesis proposes an integration model, which fuses XML and Agent, and apply the model in SI of intelligent building. To address semantic problem, XML is deployed in the model to eliminate homonyms and synonyms between vocabularies of several independent system by the use of DTD. (documentary type definition) SOAP, which combines XML and HTTP protocol, also contribute to the model to simple development of applications and make best use of XML. The thesis is focus on discussion on communication and coordination mechanism of Agents in the model. Then describe the methods of Agent vocabulary definition and XML data storing. Finally, an application that applies the framework we proposed is introduced.
