The strategy of fuzzy control is one of the intelligent control scheme, which was based on the concept of uzzy setsproposed in 1965 by Prof. L.A.Zadeh in American. Because this approach can efficiently use system local information and expert operation experiences by means of a certain type of fuzzy rules to approximate any nonlinear plants, it resolves constructing model and controlling for complex plants. But, the fuzzy models are constructed by use of more fuzzy rules for the sake of guaranteeing control accuracy, which increases the difficulty of fuzzy inference and lacks the real-time performance of closed-loop systems. The schemes of robust control do well in dealing with the uncertainty in plant. The existing design methods of robust controller are mainly based on the rigorous mathematical model and deal with the finite uncertainty in plants, that may lead to seriously erroneous when the plant includes strong nonlinearity and uncertainty. For a class of uncertain linear and nonlinear systems with norm- bounded time-varying parametric uncertainty described in Takagi- Sugeno fuzzy model, this dissertation makes an overall study on the problem of analysis of system stability and design of stabilizing controller using a combination of robust control and fuzzy logic methodology. The main contents are as follows: 1 The historical development of fuzzy control is reviewed. The Mamdani fuzzy model, Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model and the basic concepts about fuzzy control system are introduced respectively. Several problems which need to be studied are greatly discussed. 2. Stability issues of the Mamdani fuzzy model are reviewed.Based on the literature the main works are concerned with thestability analysis of T-S fuzzy model.3. The problem for linear matrix inequality application in controltheory is discussed. The stability conditions for T-S fuzzysystem are derived by means of linear matrix inequality.4. The new stability conditions and design methods of stabilizingfuzzy controller are proposed for a class of uncertain continuousand discrete time system described by T-S fuzzy modelrespectively.5. The stabilizing fuzzy control methods of a class of uncertaintime-delay system are proposed, simulation of them are alsoobtained.6. Finally, the dissertation concludes with a series of vistas offuture fuzzy controllers.
