Internet-based Component Information System

A important factor affecting software reuse is the software component information system, comprising methods and tools for managing, representing and retrieving software components .The significant problem in Traditional information system is the lack of convenient methods for releasing components and collecting users?feedback .As a result, the reuse is often confined to a company or a project team .Currently, with the development of Internet, which provides a quick and easy way of communication, and with the release of several software component models, which provide the uniform standards, developing a new information system supporting wide reuse and solving the problems mentioned above is feasible and urgent. This paper discusses the characters and technologies of the Internet-based component information system for JavaBeans(IISB) developed by us. First, it explains the aims, characters, architecture and constitution of HSB,which is characterized by Browser /Server architecture, multi representing and retrieving methods, supporting dynamic faceted representation, utilizing the JavaBeans model and supporting decision. Second, the technologies adopted by our system and the feathers of them are introduced respectively, which include representation and retrieval of software component, the management of component, the support of decision and the dynamic generation of web pages.
