Wireless sensor network is a private network which by a large number of wireless sensordevices in the specified monitoring area collected information and fused the information andtransmitted to the base station by wireless communication method.Wireless sensor networkintegrated related technologies of sensor field,communications field and distributed field to acertain degree,because of its specific technical characteristics,wireless sensor network hasreceived specific practice and application,its practical value can be obviously reflected in thesefields.As a network technology and its embodied practical value in the different applicationenvironment,the academic circles focused on it and researched it deeply and widely.However,inthe complex working environment,the storage capacity of nodes is restricted by thetechnology,and it powered by common batteries,ususlly,because the battery life is short,so howto reduce energy consumption of the network has become the focus of the research on wirelesssensor network.Usually through the improvement and upgrade to achieve the purpose of savingenergy on routing protocols,then it can make the network life be longer.This paper deeply summarized the wireless sensor networks and the existing routingprotocols.Firstly,we summarized the characteristics,practical value and composition of wirelesssensor networks,the research focuses on the classification on the routing protocol ofnetwork.Secondly,aiming to hierarchical routing algorithm which applies to wireless sensornetwork,we studied it and we summarized and compared some typical hierarchical routingalgorithm.In this paper,we propose a clustering routing protocol based on LEACH.The first stage isthe cluster heads selection stage,this paper introduces redidual energy and initial energy of thesensor nodes as two important components to adjusts the values of random numbers.The secondstage is clustering stage,in this stage,the new algorithm uses the residual energy and the distancebetween sensor nodes and the sink nodes as the basis for clustering to make the arrangement ofthe cluster more evenly.The third stage is data transmission phase,in this new algorithm,a datatransmission method,which combines single hop route with multi-hop route according to thedistance between sensor nodes and the sink node and the residual energy,is proposed to reduceenergy consumption.Finally,we analyzed the algorithm by simulation experiment,simulation results demonstratethat the improved algorithm is more efficient in reducing energy consumption and prolonging thelife cycle of wireless sensor networks.
