The computer animation has developed into a huge, mature high-yield industry from anew one with the continuous development of the computer graphics, digital multimediatechnology and other related technologies. Group animation as an important branch ofcomputer animation, not only is widely used in the animation industry, gaming andentertainment, military research, virtual reality and other fields, but also the visual shockeffect of large-scale scene it brings us has attracted a large number of consumer groups.In recent years, the group animation design shows a new ditality through the rapiddevelopment of the motion capture technology. The motion capture technology can obtain anaccurately realistic and difficult human motion data, so as to achieve a good realistic effect onthe people’s movement of group animation. On the other hand, people pursue better visualeffects and natural authenticity of animation, so they put forward a higher requirement andexpectation to group animation design. Researching on how to combine the path planning andmotion capture animation design for together completing the group animation creation is verysignificant, which can improve the visual effects and realism of group animation.This paper mainly studies on two aspects like path planning and animation design byfusing motion capture data, by using graph theory algorithms, A*algorithm, motion capturetechnology and other related theories and applications, as a result to better achieve the goal offast, efficient and higher realistic group behavioral simulation.The main work and innovation of this paper is as follows:(1) Proposing a two-path planning algorithm based on topology and A*algorithm.Firstly, using the minimum spanning tree algorithm-Prim algorithm to realize the global pathplanning in geometry layer. Then take advantage of parallel computing methods and ideas,using A*algorithm to realize the local path planning in each area node of the global path. Inthe end, splicing the computed path information nodes into an integrated path. Generatingpath information and saving them on ACIS+HOOPS+VS2003development platform of theteam project. Results of experiments show that this algorithm can easily interact and wellimprove the efficiency of the path planning in group animation.(2) Proposing an animation design method by fusing path information and motioncapture data. By the new animation creation software on VS2010development platform,firstly generating motion data with specific behavior and motion path, by way of efficientlyfusing the saved path information and motion capture data. Then completing the group animation design in complex visual environment by binding characters. Results ofexperiments demonstrate that this animation design method presented in this paper is feasibleand can well improve the visual effects and realism of group animation.
