| According to data provided by AVC, market share of Smart TV surged over 90% from the same period last year. TV industry forecasts Smart TV will account for over 80% in the total amount of produced TV by 2016. Smart TV market has already become a hot spot. Among all the Smart TVs, Smart TV based on Android is a mainstay in today’s Smart TV market, this kind of Smart TV accounts for more than 50% in the total domestic shipments. Because application quality and user experience are the key metrics of products’competitiveness, the development and optimization of Smart TV application based on Android system has become a focus.The majority of the Smart TVs in use or on offer still use digital remote controls. Since people don’t want to replace their TVs frequently, this situation will last for years. However, because of the control distance and the complexity of applications, some of the applications’ user experiences in Smart TVs don’t meet customers’ expectation. As one of the most important fundamental software in Smart TV, web browser faces great challenges in control difficulty and function complexity. For there are mature browser products on smart devices, many software companies provide optimized solutions by transplanting and optimizing browser’s UI in mobile terminals. This kind of solutions doesn’t fit Smart TVs because there is great difference between Smart TVs and mobile terminals. TV manufacturers offer solutions with both software and hardware optimization. This kind of solutions improves browser’s user experiences significantly with the help of new kinds of remote controls which provide somatosensory system, voice control, eye control, touch screen and etc. However, this kind of solutions need extra cost on hardware.Industry has pay attention to the above problems, and is trying to customize a pure software solution. Haier Smart TV project is one of these tries, and it is also the reason we focus on this field and do further researches. In this paper, based on the research of control complexity factors, an accessible browser solution designed for Smart TV using ordinary digital remote control has been put forward. Besides commonly used browser functionalities, accessible browser solution provides easy-to-control UI, TV browser dedicated input method, intelligent simulation mouse, personalized browser theme switching service, and upgrade function, which forms a comprehensive easy-to-use browser solution. At the same time, through proposing application platform using browser as core which can equip function supports field by field, and offering support functions for hotel application as the first supported field, we try to gradually provide an accessible application support platform for users who customizing commercial applications based on browsers. Experiments show this comprehensive solution can reduce browser’s manipulation complexity, offer good user experience and support hotel customized application well. |
