With the rapid development of the devices and applications in unlicensed spectrum, communication on unlicensed spectrum becomes very crowded. However, the utilization ratio of licensed spectrum is very low. Cognitive radio technology is proposed to solve the unbalanced spectrum utilization. Cognitive radio technology makes Secondary Users(SUs) access the licensed spectrum in certain situations. Licensed spectrum which can be used by each SUs is vary from the time in Cognitive Radio Networks(CRNs). Hence, there are many great challenges to design routing algorithms in CRNs. The emphasis of this paper is on the cooperative routing algorithms in CRNs.An improved architecture of CRNs is proposed, which considered the cost of devices, the spectrum requirement of SUs and the energy efficiency of SUs. Then, this paper combines the problem of cooperative routing with coalition graph game. An improved multi-hop cooperative routing algorithm based on the improved architecture is proposed, which considered the necessity of multi-hop routing path and the stability of the routing path. This paper details introduce a novel graph-based method for coalition formation and a graph-based fair allocation rule to allocate benefits. This paper proves the stability of the improved multi-hop cooperative routing algorithm through theory. Finally, simulation is presented through Matlab/Simulink-based simulator TRUETIME. Simulation results show the advantages of the improved architecture and the improved multi-hop cooperative routing algorithm.
