The wars occurred in modern times show that electronic warfare has gradually replaced the traditional land, sea and air war by "multi-dimensional warfare"."soft kill" is the main feature of electronic warfare throughout the course of the war. Electronic confrontation (e-confrontation) is an important part of electronic warfare, which gains strategic information from the enemy by intercepting and identifying the enemy’s electromagnetic radiation to provide information support and help for further military actions. Traditional electronic reconnaissance equipment (active radar) radiates electromagnetic signals, which can easily received by the enemy’s equipment. The superiority of passive radar is demonstrated because of active radar’s poor convert. More and more people start to make researches on passive detection technology. So passive detection has a bright future. The key to solve the problem of passive detection is how to get the best position accuracy. Some researches are discussed on the aspect of bearing-only. The main works of this paper are as follows:1. Triangulation of passive detection is discussed, including multi-fixed station locating on triangulation and the least square localization. The choice of triangle’s centroid triangulation of passive detection is discussed first. Different triangle centroids’position performance has been compared through simulations. A group of recurrence formulas of the weighted linear least squares is presented. Linear approximation method and Newton iteration method are compared in the situation of nolinear least squares.2. The model of multi-station bearing-only locating problem based on maximum a posteriori from bayesian estimation is inferred. The theory and model of multi-station bearing-only locating problem based on the dual-station, three-station and multi-station bayesian estimation is explored deeply. The similarities and differences between bayesian estimation method and triangle detection method are presented, especially on the point estimation and area estimation.3. A new control strategy is proposed based on meshing zone of responsibility to get the best position accuracy. First the zone of responsibility is meshed by its geometric distribution and sensing precision, and the locating precisions for second, two stations, three stations combinations are computed with zone of responsibility, last, formulating command and control strategy for multi-fixed station locating. Once a target is detected, the optimizing cause of action is called. With control strategy, not only the best position accuracy is pursued, but also the most sensible proposal is adopted. Some conclusions are drawn, which can be used for reference in collocating passive sensors to improve location precision.
