Visible light communication is a new way of communication. It has many advantages including high security, high bandwidth, free electro-magnetic interference, high transmission power, no occupation of the radio spectrum, energy-saving and environment protecting, etc. It can be used to realize communication, indoor positioning, indoor navigation and other applications, especially suitable for places not covered by radio waves or places where radio waves prohibited or places where lower radiation is required. In the future, indoor visible light communication will be widely used as a supplement to the RF communication.The duplex visible light communication hardware, channel coding for visible light communication and the usage of Wavelength Division Multiplex(WDM Technology) in the indoor visible light communication are investigated experimentally. A high power LED modulation driver and a signal receiver are produced, and a DC filtering used to improve its mobility is researched. It is known that the visible light communication channel has the following characters: short channel transmission distance; vulnerable to multipath effect and inter-symbol interference; and easy to produce burst error. A suitable convolutional interleaved code encoding is designed to improve the stability of the communication. Wavelength Division Multiplex is achieved experimentally where RGBLEDs and suitable colored glasses are used to divide sub-channel. Through the experiments, it is concluded that the visible light communication hardware has a certain mobility and stability, and the error correcting capability has achieved the desired effect to improve the communication quality of the system. Comparing with the normal communication system, the communication system based on Wavelength Division Multiplex has a higher communication speed and higher stability, so it is suitable to be used in indoor visible light communication.
